Why the season matters
Heat speeds up evaporation: volatile molecules lift off faster, and a perfume projects more. A dense amber or a sugary gourmand, pleasant in winter, can then feel stifling. Citrus, marine notes and herbs, by contrast, use that extra diffusion to deliver a feeling of coolness. Their weakness, short longevity, can be fixed by reapplying or by scenting clothes. White flowers such as orange blossom, jasmine and tiaré also suit warm skin and solar notes, especially in lighter versions. In our selection, Eau Sauvage, Acqua di Giò, Light Blue, Neroli Portofino and Un Jardin sur le Nil embody this register well. Finally, consider lighter concentrations, eau de toilette or eau de Cologne, which are better suited to high temperatures and can be applied more freely.
