What does Layton smell like?
Layton, launched in 2016, became one of Parfums de Marly’s signature scents. Composed by Hamid Merati-Kashani, it opens with crisp apple, aromatic lavender, bergamot and mandarin in a lively, fruity start. The heart brings geranium, violet and jasmine for a slightly powdery floral elegance. But the drydown is what made its name: a creamy vanilla spiked with cardamom and pepper, blended with sandalwood, patchouli and smoky guaiac wood. The result is warm and sweet without turning gourmand, with remarkable projection and hours of longevity. The apple-lavender opening is fleeting; it is the peppered vanilla people remember.
