What does Darley smell like?
Darley is among the first creations of Parfums de Marly, a house founded in 2009 that draws on eighteenth-century horses and the court of Louis XV. It revisits the ambery fougère with generosity. The opening pairs mint, bergamot and Amalfi lemon for a crisp aromatic freshness. The unusually full heart brings together lavender, rosemary, cinnamon, orange blossom and rose, a spiced floral bouquet that is clean and warm at once. The base of tonka, sandalwood, amber, guaiac and patchouli adds a woody softness, lightly smoked by the guaiac, that rounds off the lavender. Think of a classic fougère dressed in velvet.
When to wear it
Office or evening from autumn to spring; it suits lovers of elegant, warm fougères that are less sugary than modern orientals.
