What does Carlisle smell like?
Released in 2015, Carlisle is one of the densest and darkest compositions from Parfums de Marly. It opens on a tart green apple, immediately spiced with nutmeg and saffron, which give it an almost liqueur-like character. The heart is rich and unusual: tonka bean adds its almond sweetness, rose and osmanthus a fruity floralcy, and davana that slightly boozy candied-fruit note reminiscent of old cognac. Patchouli, vanilla and opoponax form a warm, resinous, deep base. The whole has a velvety, syrupy texture, somewhere between spiced apple pie and a hushed drawing room, made for when temperatures drop.
When to wear it
For cold evenings and special occasions, applied sparingly. It suits lovers of rich, fruity, opulent orientals.
