What does Noir de Noir smell like?
Released in 2007 as part of the Private Blend collection, Noir de Noir explores the darkest side of the rose. The opening pairs saffron (leathery and slightly metallic) with a velvety black rose and a mandarin that flashes briefly. At the heart, black truffle adds an earthy, almost damp note while vanilla and oud bring a smoky woody warmth. The patchouli, sandalwood and oud base extends the mood: forest-floor soil, bitter cocoa and wilted petals. The rose never appears fresh or pretty, but as a night flower, deep and a little decadent. It is unisex in the fullest sense, as convincing on a man as on a woman.
When to wear it
For autumn and winter evenings, applied sparingly; it thrills lovers of dark roses and patchouli.
