Our take
What does My Way smell like?
Launched by Giorgio Armani in 2020 and composed by Carlos Benaïm and Bruno Jovanovic, My Way is a white floral built around the idea of travel and discovery. The opening is bright: sparkling bergamot, orange blossom and a white-flower accord give a sunlit freshness. Tuberose takes the heart, doubled by a greener Indian tuberose, with creamy jasmine smoothing things over. Vanilla, sandalwood and musk keep the base velvety and enveloping without tipping into gourmand. The result is a modern, polished, luminous floral designed for broad appeal while keeping some warmth.
When to wear it
Works by day or night in spring and autumn. It suits women who like modern, soft, radiant white florals.
The story of My Way
In 2020 Armani had not launched a major women’s fragrance since Sì in 2013. My Way arrived in the middle of the pandemic with a theme that felt oddly timed: travel and meeting other cultures. Carlos Benaïm and Bruno Jovanovic built it around materials tied to specific origins. The tuberose comes from India, the orange blossom from Egypt, the vanilla from Madagascar and the bergamot from Calabria. The brand leaned hard on the idea of responsible sourcing. The bottle follows the same logic. It is refillable, with refills sold separately, which was still uncommon for a big designer launch at the time. Actress Adria Arjona fronted the campaign, a film that cuts from one landscape to the next across the globe. The whole pitch was about optimism and openness rather than seduction. My Way Intense, heavier on vanilla, followed a year later. Other versions have filled out the line since. It has settled into the Armani lineup for good without shaking up the white floral genre.
Our detailed review
Sparkling bergamot and clean orange blossom make the first minutes the nicest part, like a warm towel after a shower. After half an hour the tuberose settles in. It is tamed, green and a little creamy, nothing like the fleshy tuberoses of the 1980s. Jasmine rounds it off without adding weight. From hour three the vanilla and white musk base takes over and the scent becomes soft, faintly sweet skin. It is clean and easy. It is also where we lose interest. The drydown smells like plenty of musky florals released since 2015, and after four hours nobody could pick My Way out blind. It works for women who want a wearable white floral that bothers no one in an open-plan office. Tuberose lovers looking for flesh, butter or a touch of indolic weight will be let down. Our view: well made and pleasant, but a perfume you wear more than one you truly love.
My Way vs its rivals
Givenchy’s L’Interdit shares nearly the whole heart: tuberose, orange blossom, jasmine and white flowers. The difference lies underneath. My Way stays soft with vanilla and musk, while L’Interdit drops into patchouli, vetiver and ambroxan and picks up an earthy shadow we find more interesting. Giorgio from Giorgio Beverly Hills shows what tuberose meant in 1981, with gardenia, ylang-ylang, peach and apricot over a heavy sandalwood and amber base. It is far louder and much more dated. Jennifer Lopez’s Glow leans clean with neroli, orange blossom and musk and barely any tuberose. My Way sits between Glow and L’Interdit. Pick it for a bright, well-behaved tuberose. Go for L’Interdit if you want darker contrast, Glow for a cheap soapy effect, and Giorgio only if big eighties drama makes you smile.
Longevity, projection and use
At 3 out of 5 for intensity, My Way is moderate for an eau de parfum. Expect five to seven hours on skin and a little more on clothes. Projection is decent for an hour or two, then it becomes a close halo. Three or four sprays are not too many: neck, chest and the back of the wrists. It suits spring and autumn, daytime and the office, where it won’t bother anyone. If the day runs into an evening out, plan a top-up in the late afternoon. Hot weather makes it sweeter without making it any louder.
It belongs to the Floral family. My Way is one of 9 creations by Giorgio Armani in our encyclopedia.
